Athletics
Athletic team experiences are an essential part of the development of each student. Every student has the opportunity to have a successful athletics experience, as all students are welcome to participate in each team sport that WWS offers: cross country, soccer, basketball, softball/baseball. WWS coaches help students to develop self-discipline, athletic skills, and practice good sportsmanship. Being a member of a team teaches important social skills, healthy habits, and routines that will help students lead successful and happy lives. WWS believes strongly in teaching students to develop a healthy relationship with competition.
Our teams compete in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference. Each high school student is required to participate on at least one interscholastic sports team during each academic year. Students may choose from:
- Soccer
- Cross Country
- Baseball
- Softball
- Basketball
The team sports program begins in the 5th grade and continues through the 12th grade. During the fall season, WWS offers soccer and cross country teams for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, as well as for high school students. During the winter season, 5th through 12 grade students may participate in basketball. WWS also has softball (girls) and baseball (boys) in the spring for 5th through 12th graders.
If you have any questions about athletics, please contact our Athletic Director, Taisto Saloma via email or 301-229-6107.
