Job Description
At the Washington Waldorf School, we encourage the connections that broaden students’ experiences
and help them grow in new directions. We are a co-educational, Pre-K through 12 independent school
offering a Waldorf based education. The Business Manager supports the school’s financial operations in
partnership with the Head of School and the outsourced financial team. This role requires strong
accounting and finance skills, along with outstanding customer service to work with families, faculty, staff,
and the broader school community. This position reports to the Head of School.

Multi-faceted responsibilities include:
- Manage the enrollment payment process, including invoice issuance, payment plans, financial aid
awards, payments, and collections - Manage the financial aid process, including budgeting, the application process, and aid awards
- Answer parent questions regarding tuition and other payments
- Oversee accounts receivable
- Process payroll disbursements into HSA and retirement accounts
- Back-up for payroll processing
- Assist with benefits reconciliations
- Manage banking relationships, deposits, and petty cash
- Complete annual liability insurance analysis and renewal with the school’s insurance agent.
- Assist with financial analysis and support for various programs.
- Provide support to the Finance Committee as needed.
- Assist the parent association with budgeting, reconciliations of their financial records, and bank
accounts. - Additional accounting and financial support as needed
Experience/Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in accounting leadership (CFO, Controller, Business Manager)
- Strong background in accounting, budgeting, and cash management
- Experience with non-profit, schools, or small business accounting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks or a similar accounting system
- Working knowledge of payroll systems (Paycor)
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Knowledge of principles and practices of non-profit accounting
- Ability to work with highly confidential information
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all constituents

This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits, including medical, retirement, time-off, and tuition
remission. The position is on-site at the school in Bethesda, Maryland. The pay range is $70-$80,000 per
year. This is an immediate opening.
