Job Description

The Washington Waldorf School (WWS) seeks a detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative Assistant to the Director of Development to join our Development team. This hourly position plays a vital role in supporting the school’s fundraising, community and alum engagement, as well as event initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Execution
    • Support the planning, logistics, and execution of major fundraising and community events.
    • Manage smaller development and community engagement events, including setup, communications, and follow-up.
    • Collaborate with the Parent Faculty Organization (PFO), Festivals Committee, and other committees to plan and implement non-campaign events.
  • Fundraising & Communications
    • Draft, edit, and proofread grant proposals and reports.
    • Contribute to and create social media content creation to support community engagement and fundraising efforts.
  • Administrative & Team Support
    • Provide day-to-day support to the Director of Development, including scheduling, communications, and project management.
      Assist the Database Coordinator with gift entry, reporting, and data management as needed.
    • Support additional development office initiatives and special projects.
    • Coordinate the dissemination of mailings and acknowledgement letters. 
  • Alum Engagement
    • Spearhead Alum Engagement Events
      • Recent Alum Winter Packages
      • Alum Basketball Game
      • Alum Reunion/Picnic
    • Collaborate on alum communication and giving strategy

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience drafting professional communications.
  • Event planning or project management experience, with an eye for detail and logistics.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Collaborative and flexible team player, able to work across committees and departments.

Compensation

  • Hourly position; 25 hours weekly | $22 per hour
