Announcing Our New Head of School
The Trustees Council is honored and delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Lelia True as Faculty Chair/Head of School. In collaboration with the College of Teachers, the Trustees Council worked diligently this past year in our search for a new Faculty Chair/Head of School. Both collective bodies reached consensus and enthusiastically agreed to select Ms. True for this position.
Ms. True earned her MS/MBA from Purdue University with a focus on Management Information Systems/Operations and her BS in General Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Ms. True brings thirty years of leadership experience to this role and has a strong background in finance, the management and operation of complex systems and dedicated public service. She is also a devoted Waldorf parent of twelve years and is dedicated to the tenets of Waldorf education. Ms. True has worked collaboratively and passionately with the Trustees Council, faculty, and the community since assuming the role of Interim Head of School last year. We are particularly impressed and grateful for her dedication to and success in keeping WWS open during this challenging pandemic year.
As Faculty Chair/Head of School, Ms. True will be responsible for the day-to-day financial, operational and educational leadership for the school and will help develop and oversee the implementation of short and long-term strategic goals. Ms. True will report to the Trustees Council. We are fortunate to have her taking the helm at WWS as we work to move the school forward with exciting plans around campus development and increased enrollment. The Trustees Council’s experience of Ms. True throughout the search process and her stellar references reflect an engaged and capable leader. We take note of the respect she has engendered in all with whom she has worked, and we are confident she will lead WWS into a vibrant future.
You will be hearing more from Ms. True soon, as she is eager to officially step into the role of Faculty Chair/Head of School. Until then, we hope you will share in our pride and enthusiasm.
