Camp Description
We are going to make some real photographs with cameras we build ourselves! After a brief primer on how photography was discovered, students will spend their days perfecting their observation and picture-making skills. Our time will be spent constructing simple cameras (a few different shapes and sizes), experimenting with technique, composition, and story-through-image, while making photographs both inside and outside. We will develop our work in a darkroom. Students will create a “body of work” of related images which can be hung at an exhibition our final afternoon. This course will be offered two separate weeks; students who participate in the first week can advance their skills in week two.
About Kate Knuth: WWS’s Middle School English teacher, Kate earned her BFA in photography. She has been a Waldorf teacher since 1999, and has taught pinhole photography to middle- and high-school students on three Waldorf campuses.
