The Washington Waldorf School is seeking a part-time assistant math teacher to work with students in grades 4-8, effective immediately. This is an hourly position for approximately 12 hours/week, divided as follows: 4 hours/week in grade 8, 3 hours/week in grade 4, and 4 hours/week providing after-school math tutoring support to students in grades 4-8, from 3-4 p.m. The precise schedule during the school day is to be determined. Overall, the assistant will work with students individually or in small groups to review math concepts and strengthen basic math skills, in collaboration with the lead teacher.
Although we would prefer to hire one individual to cover the position, we would consider splitting the role into 2 parts, one covering math support during school and the other covering after school tutoring.
A bachelor’s degree and grades teaching experience are required. Familiarity with Waldorf education is preferred, but more importantly, we seek an individual who is patient and enthusiastic in working with students. Washington Waldorf is committed to building a more diverse faculty, and we welcome applications from all interested individuals.
